System Software Engineer
A manufacturer of thin film coated optical products for a variety of markets
including Aerospace, Medical, Defense, Imaging, and general R&D, has an immediate opening for a full
stack System Software Engineer.
The candidate should possess a strong understanding of software development needs regarding both
control systems and business processes in a manufacturing environment. Ideal candidates will be
familiar with multiple programming languages, including C# and SQL, and will be able to assess the best
solution for particular needs.
Job Duties
Develop and maintain system software for complex, multi-threaded automation platforms
Develop and maintain software for SQL/ProvideX databases and MRP systems
Develop ladder logic for PLC controllers
Suggest and design custom software tools for engineering and manufacturing
Development and troubleshooting of electrical systems, as it pertains to SW functionality
Hands-on setup/troubleshooting of mechanical systems, as it pertains to SW functionality
Follow, execute, and develop detailed written procedures
Works within an ISO9001 based Quality Management System
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications, Credentials, and Education
BS in Computer Science, an engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3 years of related system level software development
Strong background in mathematics/physics
Proficient with C# and structured programming
Ability to multitask
Work effectively without direct supervision
Good communication skills with fluency in compositional and conversational English
US Person as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 (Citizen, Permanent Resident)
Preferred Experience
Experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of controls systems (e.g. PLCs), PID tuning, etc
Knowledge of thin film optics – theory or manufacture
Knowledge of Vacuum systems
Familiarity with SPC, Six Sigma, other process control
Familiarity with the programming and troubleshooting of control systems
Critical thinking and resolves issues
