Optical Fabrication Technician
Our client, a manufacturer of thin film coated optical products has an immediate opening for a temp to hire Optical Fabrication Technician.
Fabrication Technician Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of the processes steps of optical fabrication to achieve desired results
- Ability to setup and operate conventional optical grinding and polishing equipment
- Read and interpret drawings and requirements from custom specifications
- Critical thinking and resolves issues
Fabrication Technician Desired Experience/Other Qualifications
- Ability to accurately use a variety of precision metrology hand tools including calipers, drop gauges, micrometers, and comparators
- Ability to set up and take measurements on metrology systems such as interferometers, profilometers, and microscopes
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good Computer skills (Excel, Word)
- Ability to read schematics/drawings and follow procedures
- Perform mathematical calculations using formulas, conversions, and ratios
- Ability to multitask
- Works effectively without direct supervision
Fabrication Technician Job Duties
- Performs various optical fabrication processes including but not limited to beveling, milling, blocking, grinding, polishing, edging, inspection/measurements, and cleaning of optical components
- Inspect and clean finished parts
- Set up and maintain processing and metrology equipment
- Adjust machine performance to achieve optimal functionality and processing
- Measure optical parts using optical metrology equipment to determine compliance, including hand tools, profilometers and interferometers, and document accurate results
- Participate in the periodic resurfacing of grinding and polishing machines
- Works within ISO9001 Quality Management System
- Other duties as assigned
Fabrication Technician Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Exposure to chemicals and solvents
- Use of smocks, safety glasses, and latex gloves required
- Ability to lift and/or carry at least 20lbs
Fabrication Technician Education, Credentials, and Qualifications
- US Person as defined by 22 CFR 120.15 (Citizen, Permanent Resident)
- High school diploma, or equivalent
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Good communication skills with fluency in compositional and conversational English
- One or more years of experience in conventional optical fabrication preferred
- One or more years of experience handling precision mechanical parts preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 – $30.00 per hour
